The homeless blind guy turns out to be an undercover cop, after the Houston Marauder. He’s not blind at all and he likes what he sees in Elle. There have been three abductions and two women are dead. Nick’s sister Toni McCray was victim number two and, although she has come out of her coma, she has not really returned to the living. She has a husband and child and Nick is sure apprehending her abductor will bring Toni back to normal.
Always living on the financial brink, Elle earned some needed cash at a gentleman’s club just over a year ago. She met some sleazeball guys and some women customers who admired the Chippendale dancers. She isn’t proud of her stint as a stripper.
Elle fantasizes about how ten million could change her life. Detective Nick Damato is not impressed with money, but then he does have quite a bit of it. He hides his own wealth from Elle and most of the world.
Elle’s ex-boss, Jeremy Sharmiah, is a real jerk who hit on her and threatened to reveal her past when she spurned him. Nick’s partners on the force are down-to-earth guys trying to solve the crime. The killer and the methods used are unusual, to say the least. The story is engrossing and action-packed, if not totally believable.
The mystery is solved with a few unique twists, and the erotic scenes are extremely well written. Author Reid keeps the reader interested and involved as she spins this riveting tale.
