Sophie Green is a bumbling spy who wants to do well at her job but is having issues regarding a co-worker, who is also her lover. Now that she has her assignment, which she grudgily accepts after coming off a short vacation, she is on her way to New York City to meet up with the target. When she finally figures out how she really feels about Luke, it creates more complications for them.
Luke Sharpe, posing as airport security, but is really a spy along with Sophie, who is the love of his life. The fact that he can’t seem to let her do anything on her own speaks loudly of his affections for her and he clearly does not want to see her hurt by anyone.
A is for Apple was a wonderful story! Even with Sophie stumbling through everything going on around her and the mixed feelings for Luke never stopped her from getting the job done. These characters were very different from each other and you are kept wondering from beginning to end what was really going on with them. When the time came for Sophie to make a choice she was able to but not without feelings that were beyond her.
Kate Johnson has done a fabulous job writing about espionage, school days and family. I was very surprised by a lot of the characters comments made by some of the people in the book and it kept me laughing out loud. This was the third book in the Sophie Green Mysteries.
