Thirty-year-old Lynn Broadmore is a bookkeeper by day, but a Goddess of Smut after hours. Her obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer is revealed on her website, where her cyber identity is Hush. The internet has become far more real to her than her dead-end job or physical friends.
She has become the ultimate online Fantasy Girl for a serial killer. The FBI is tracking Benne and Agent Jack Edwards finds Lynn the object of his fantasies as well. Even more intriguing, Hush is the Fantasy Girl Lynn would like to be.
Jack goes undercover in the cubicle next to Lynn, while his partner, Cathy Donaldson, continues to track the killer.
Lynn is smart and capable but insecure. Her remarks on thongs, shaving, and condoms are hysterical. She is attracted to Jack, but has a hard time believing his interest in her is sincere.
Jack is a gorgeous blonde hunk, drawing female attention wherever he goes. He is attracted, yet he backs off from Lynn in ways that are hard to understand.
Then there’s Tina, the office slut, trying to gain Jack’s attention. And Bella, Lynn’s best fiend, hoping to get some romance in her friend’s real life.
The villain has a gruesome and morbid preoccupation with cleanliness, making the torture scenes truly revolting. And there is a bit too much silly bickering after the bad guy has been apprehended. But Lynn’s personal growth is interesting and there’s some really tense action. The story includes a helpful glossary for those of us unfamiliar with fandom, and a fascinating view of cyber dangers in the Kansas Heartland.
