Genji Sakura, an actor with a traveling troupe, is bathing in a secluded hot springs when upon a chance meeting, a masterless samurai, Daisuke Minamoto requests to join him in the bath. Daisuke is intrigued by the beautiful Genji and cannot resist the passion that flairs between them, a passion so strong that Daisuke forgets his mission of revenge. Genji had never had anyone make love to him in such a tender and caring way before. However, at the end of their interlude they part to go their separate ways.
Sedonia Guillone's Flying Fish is an expressive romance set in the era of seventeenth century Japan. The well-written plot gives the reader a sense of the Japanese culture during that time frame. The characters each have a tragic past they must overcome as well as find a way to happiness together and they do, creating a notable story that I very much enjoyed.
