Former bodyguard Romano is used to helping people in hairy situations but when he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, he’s the one needing help.  Hoping to put some space between him and the men trying to kill him, Romano heads out to Pride Pack Valley.  He doesn’t expect to find men like Tabby and Memphis while he’s there.

Ms. Hagen’s newest addition to the Zeus’s Pack series, Memphis, is a little different from the previous stories.  Before, the previous soldiers of Zeus’s pack have feared finding their mates, but not Memphis, he can’t wait.  Another difference is that at least two members of the newly formed ménage developed a strong connection right away.  In Memphis, both Memphis and Romano are strong Alpha characters, neither wanting to relinquish control to the other.  They’re also extremely pig-headed and opinionated. The way they act comes across realistically for the type of people they are.   Poor Tabby, on the other hand, is a problem child from the get-go.  Lately finding himself sleeping off his newest drinking binge in jail, Tabby doesn’t expect to ever find anyone who will love him for himself.  Needless to say, when Memphis and Romano enter his life, he’s ready to run in the other direction.  Once the men get their act together however, they really heat up the pages.

I liked the main characters in this story and enjoyed the fact that the author switched things up a little.  These small changes gave the series a fresh feel.  I wondered how Memphis and Romano would overcome their issues and how Tabby’s drinking problem would be addressed.  Not only did the author cover all these issues wonderfully, but she also wove the problems Romano was running from into the story in a way that it did not seem forced.  Several previous characters showed up and new members of the pack, as well as future mates, were introduced.

Fans of this series are sure to enjoy this newest addition and Memphis is one I will be reading again.
