After being tortured
on the orders of his father, Noah Steele’s no longer the confident Alpha he
once was. No one can get through to him, not even his brother and he refuses to
claim his mate because he’s ashamed.
Beta Dax Marshall
works hard protecting the pack and doesn’t think he’ll even find his mate until
he literally slams into Noah. The chance meeting gives him hope for the first
time. Their mating won’t be easy and before any issues can be resolved, they
and their team follow a lead to a prisoner facility. They find cages of abused
shifters, including a young omega to whom they both feel drawn. Can this new
threesome adjust to life together while the pack fights Alpha Steele’s plans? Can
their relationship grow and survive?
Our Omega is the second and newest release in JJ Black’s Great Lakes Wolves series. It follows
shortly after Accepting the Alpha
ends, so they should be read in order.
I’m very pleased with
how the underlying plot…the battle with crazy Alpha Steele…is progressing well.
It makes a good backbone for each release, while still allowing the couple, or
even threesome in this case, to develop their relationship. It’s a nice balance
between the two parts of the plot line and the author does a good job juggling
the components, adding new twists and interweaving characters previously met. It’s fast paced, has vivid descriptions, good
personality development and it’s a fun and entertaining read.
Noah’s an alpha with
an abusive past. His painful feelings are expressed well but he got over what
happened to him immediately on accepting Dax as his mate. It was too fast of a
turnaround when he’d been barely able to tolerate physical contact for weeks.
That doesn’t mean I didn’t like Dax or didn’t think they made a good
couple…because they do, it was the instant fix I had problems with. As two
dominant men, they have issues to work through, and going off on a mission
added another focus to the story, along with action and a twist I wasn’t
expecting. Another mate. I didn’t see that one coming. This time the author
allows plenty of time to develop their relationship as Landon heals. There are
other surprises along the way, but my lips are sealed. Look for the next
release, which I hope features Jai.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of ménage,
violence and reference to sexual abuse.
