Rosa Bella is the talented lead vocal artist at the Black Panther Lounge, singing nightly to standing-room-only crowds. As a vampire who blends in with human society, she leads a fairly boring life, made up of work and a few close friends. All that changes when she catches the attention of Vane, the gorgeous Watcher assigned to hunt down and eliminate Rogues, preying on humans and civilian vampires walking the nearby downtown streets. After the near death of her best friend, her boss forces her take a week off and it’s during this time that her life spirals out of control. Unbeknownst to Rosa, she has a stalker, a stranger who has been sending her flowers, and if she isn’t careful, her jealousy of Vane’s past will drive her right into the arms of danger.
When Vane sets his eyes on Rosa for the first time, he thinks she’s the most beautiful vampire or human female he’s ever seen. The longer he knows her, the more he’s attracted to her. He can’t think of any other woman, and his desire for other females becomes virtually non-existent. Unfortunately, his Latin Lover reputation is more than a little unsettling for Rosa, who doesn’t understand why he would desire her, a boring and uninteresting woman. As a Watcher, Vane has dedicated him life to fighting Rogues and doesn’t know if he has the right to form an attachment to Rosa…a woman who only deserves the best. Things only get more complicated when Rosa is kidnapped during the Louisville, Kentucky fireworks show, and Vane and his fellow Watchers must not only find and defeat the Rogues, but locate Rosa before she’s turned into something evil.
Midnight Rose is the second installment in D. McEntire’s ongoing The Watcher’s series and it’s fraught with just as much danger and action as the first release. This fast-paced story is full of uncertainty, misunderstanding, danger, fear and love, along with a hope for the future together that neither Rosa nor Vane seems to think they deserve. D. McEntire does a nice job describing Rosa’s unsettled emotions. Rosa’s self-doubt is understandable to a point but seemed a little excessive to me, even though Vane had a reputation as a ‘player’, a ladies man. It was as if he could be trusted to keep her physically safe but emotionally, he'd hurt her by breaking her heart.
Vane is a dedicated warrior, putting the needs of others ahead of his own desires, just like his brother-in-arms. I have to admit that Rosa and her continuing doubt of Vane’s sincerity, started to annoy me after a while. I wanted to shout, will you please get a clue and stop acting like an idiot.
The secondary characters are just as important in this release as the last, and D. McEntire does a great job expressing the love and affection between them. Once again the Watchers add depth and spice, and this reader is curious to see where this intriguing plotline goes with the next release, which I believe is Midnight Revelations.

I love your plotline concept of the watchers and love how you've managed to integrate the females so far. Looking forward to the next release.
