The Sheikh and the Servant takes us on Noori’s journey from slave to servant and finally to esteemed lover and friend. Noori carried a heavy burden that forced him into becoming a pleasure slave. This wasn’t an ideal situation but he hoped to capture a fair master’s attention and move forward. I couldn’t help but respect Noori and admire his spunk. He didn’t sit and wallow in self-pity, but persevered. Those around him saw the true beauty in Noori, through his kind heart, gentleness with children, and patience even at the most frustrating of moments. At times, watching him interact with the Sheikh was like watching an old married couple, thanks to Noori’s ability to identify the Sheikh’s needs. Sonja Spencer has written a wonderful story with a solid plot, fascinating characters and stunning setting. I love her books more and more with each new story, and recommend The Sheikh and the Servant to those who enjoy gay historical romances.
