Lora O’Hare is part Irish and has been bestowed with an unusual gift. She can hear the cry of the banshee. It’s only happened two times in her life and both times, someone dear to her died. The first time it was her beloved father and the second her aunt.

The banshee she hears, and sees, on her computer screen at work seems to be connected to Greg Thomas, her boss at a travel magazine. Glamorous Getaways is a den of competition and she’s sure that her co-workers wouldn’t take her seriously if they knew she’d been sleeping with the boss for weeks. Breaking up is hard to do and it’s even harder when you’re in love.

Lora breaks up with Greg for the good of both their reputations. Office romance just doesn’t work. The man does everything he can to mend the break up but she isn’t interested until the banshee shows up. Before she knows it, he’s coming over to her place and it’s her responsibility to keep the man alive. It didn’t work the first two times. What can she do differently this time?

Kassie Burns has an original idea here but the plot doesn’t move much past the obvious. Girl meets boy, falls in love, and tries to save him from the supernatural. The idea of a mystic banshee howling before loved ones die is great, but not fully developed. Her dad died. Her aunt died. There’s nothing about her relationship with either of them or the turmoil she went through when they died and she couldn’t stop it. The sex scenes were flowery and fizzled instead of sizzled. Grammatical errors didn’t help this paranormal read.
