Assassin Leon Fisher has one thing on his mind: revenge for the brutal murder of his lover Ted. Killing the one responsible, however, does nothing to ease Leon's pain and anger. The deed done, Leon tumbles into a downward spiral of depression and alcoholism, forcing his somewhat nameless employer to give him an ultimatum: go to their mountain retreat deep in the Alaskan woods or be terminated. Permanently. Leon goes along with the plan, albeit reluctantly.
The retreat has everything a man could hope for: wait staff, good food, plenty to do and see, and no one to bother him. For Leon, though, the woods are what draw him. One day, he sets out, planning to explore as much as possible. When a bear attack nearly kills him, he finds himself indebted to a mysterious young man -- Grim.
Grim is unlike anyone Leon has ever met. Shy, unnervingly submissive, but with more grit and strength than one expects, Grim nurses Leon back to health and the two find more in common than either hoped for. But Grim's past makes itself known in fleeting glimpses: a nightmare here, a look of sheer terror there, a name slipping. All of it burrows into Leon's mind until he knows he has to find out what happened in Grim's past to make him the way he is now.
But Leon's own past catches up with him and before long, he's racing time and very dangerous people to get Grim before the young man ends up in prison...or worse.
From the first few paragraphs of Untamed Heart, Ms Blue had me in Alaska right beside Leon. I smelled the crisp air, felt the touch of the cold, heard the leaves crunching underfoot. If there's one thing this author can do better than most it's create an atmosphere so rich, it's impossible to escape. Leon is a man with a dangerous, dark past, but he's compassionate when it comes to Grim. Watching him fall in love with his unlikely rescuer was beyond wonderful and watching Grim open to Leon fully was even better. The ending of Untamed Heart was perfect -- absolutely perfect. Like all of her stories, Ms Blue put her men through Hell, but she gave them the happy-ever-after they deserved. Five Nymphs and a Thank You to Ally Blue for a beautiful, captivating story.
