Minx Rodriguez is a Hunter; she spends her life hunting vampires because of what the Oathbreakers had done to her and her family. Every year she heads to Mexico on El Dia de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead, to celebrate the lives of her family members who had been murdered. This year she’s also hunting Perdue, the vampire who had killed her friends and family and held her prisoner.
Connor Bell is a vampire, who is an Oathkeeper, and he is in love with Minx but two weeks ago he had skipped town when his feelings for Minx overwhelmed him. Now he’s back and he has to ask her forgiveness as well as get to her before Perdue does. When he finds Minx it’s clear that what she’s saying and what she’s feeling are two entirely different things. She wants him just as much as he wants her - the only difference is he is admitting his feelings at last. The first time they make love it’s even more earth-shattering than they ever imagined and finally, when he bites her and they become part of each other, it rocks her to her foundations.
I wish I could give the reader a sense of the different foods simmering in the background of this book – from Pico de Gallo, pescado tacos with fresh tomatillo sauce, pan dulce, pan de muerto – I could go on and on but you get the idea. The author weaves Minx’s Mexican heritage, including the foods and smells, into the fabric of the story to create a rich tapestry that serves as a backdrop for the love between Minx and Connor. The language in the book creates a sultry aura which spikes the eroticism to unbelievable heights and very few authors can better Lauren Dane when it comes to creating just the right ambience for love and sex.
But lurking in the shadows is the ever present menace of the Oathbreakers and Perdue in particular, and Minx and Connor will have to overcome the looming danger before they can be together. Can they withstand the threat and survive? You will have to read the book to find out.

Witches Knot: Celebration For The Dead is the fifth book in this series and it is a worthy follow-up to the previous stories, with visits from characters that anyone familiar with the series will recognise. The fight with Perdue was as violent as any in vampire lore and the end was almost surreal. I thought that the build-up was as good as or even better than the battle itself and is a testament to the skill of Ms Dane in the plotting of her stories. The characters in Witches Knot: Celebration for the Dead are as complex as those in the preceding books and make this story a wonderful read.

Wow, what a great review. I haven't read this yet, but now I'm raring to go. I loved the way the plot was described but I really want to hang out with Minx in the kitchen. I love touches like that to a romance. Reminds me of wanting to curl up on Alice Hoffman's couch. Add in the violence of the fight scenes and you've got yourself a whole new delicious brew of male/female influences.

Hi Beth
Glad you liked the review. Witches Knot is a wonderful series and in this particular book the food really got to me, as I'm sure you could tell. I don't think you'll regret getting this one.
