Gwendolyn Wyse wants to reignite the passion in her marriage. A romantic weekend in Charleston, South Carolina turns into anything but when her husband gives her divorce papers. He has an accident that leads to his death, and Gwen decides to use her knowledge to bring his spirit back from the dead. However, it isn’t Gwen’s cold-hearted husband who answers her call, but the ghost of the gentleman pirate – Stede Bonnet.

Stede has been in a state of limbo since dying, but his spirit hears Gwen’s call and cannot resist coming to her. Not ready to claim another wife, Stede prepares to leave Gwen until his nemesis delivers an ultimatum. They will need to work together for the sake of those they love.

Phantom Lovers – Watchkeeper brings a bit of Low Country folklore and superstition together creating a wonderful story. Stede is a pirate who lost his way until he met Gwen. Gwen had a painful past also, and it was a barrier against giving unconditional love and allowing her husband access to her deepest secrets. The time they spent together proved that love can heal all forms of hurt. Debra Glass presents a side of my home state that few get a chance to see, and I thoroughly enjoyed walking the streets of Charleston during Gwen and Stede’s adventure.
