While considering all her options in life, Lilly Tucker gets a phone call informing her of her grandmother’s death and her inheritance. What better way to leave an ex-boyfriend behind, who had done nothing but abuse her. She is on her way to a new life and her goal is to swear off men.

When she reaches Wonderland, Arkansas, Lily finds the house left to her is falling down with no electricity and very secluded from the town. In order to earn some money until she gets the inheritance, Lily gets a job waiting tables at a local diner. The handsome deputy, Toby just can’t decide what he wants to do with Lily. Should he arrest her or take her to bed?

Now that Lily has come to town, the crime rate escalates and Toby believes Lily is at the center of it. That’s only because the bodies found are her ex-boyfriend and his brother and she’s not reacting to the deaths very well because she is afraid she might be next.

I was a bit deceived by the title, Lily in Wonderland, because it had me thinking she might be going down the rabbit hole. But yet I was curious enough to read the book, in order to find out what was in Wonderland for Lily. It was way more than I expected to happen to Lily, especially when she thought she had gotten away from her past. Lily turned out to be quite a character, who did everything to deflect attention from herself. I loved that she became loyal to the end with her grandmother’s house, and that’s even after contemplating leaving on several occasions.

From the personal history given about both Lily and Toby, you couldn’t help but root for them to make a go of their relationship and with the history; it helped me to understand Lily even more. Ms. Fitzpatrick has created a fantastic suspense surrounding Lily Tucker and it was plotted out very well. I was kept in awe, as to how much trouble she got into, and how Toby is always there for her, regardless of what damage it did to him. I won’t give away who the villains are, but this is truly a great read.
