Jesse McCray is a member of the Rustlers, an outlaw gang that enjoys stealing from the local cattle baron. Ethan Phillips is a greenhorn on his way to California. When his horse comes up lame, Ethan is forced to stay in Defiance. Hoping to make a few dollars, he stops at the local saloon to see if he can get a job singing. Jesse, who along with the rest of the gang, is also at the saloon takes an instant liking to the talented greenhorn. While the two men spend their time together, the rest of the gang is causing mischief in town. Unfortunately, for Jesse and Ethan the results of the gang’s mischief may end up keeping these two apart forever.
J.M Snyder’s Wanted is a short story that really pays off. While the outcome of the men’s story is predictable, J.M leaves the final ending up to the reader’s imagination. This story would make a great series beginning, centered on the adventures of Jesse and Ethan.
