Matt Latowski returns home after a hard day at work to find the masseur, known only as Eddie, hanging from the garage door opener.  Matt had made the unwise decision to leave a virtual stranger in his home the morning after a night of sex.  Matt realizes he has been set up when police name Matt as the prime suspect in Eddie’s murder. The question is who is targeting Matt to be the fall guy?

Full Release is a well written suspense with a dash of humor, sex and dirty politics.  One night of sexual indulgence with a stranger develops into Matt being the murderer’s pawn of convenience.  The setting is Los Angeles, California.  The characters are realistic.  Matt is a gay man with a mild mannered personality.  After his same-sex marriage ended, Matt is left in a financial bind. Yet he continues to converse with his ex-husband without animosity.  Matt launches his own investigation into the murder. However, Matt is not seeking revenge, only the evidence to confirm his innocence.

Detective Aaron Tripp is walking the thin line between his attraction to Matt and his duty to solve a murder.  Being openly gay, Aaron must remain neutral when interviewing a potential suspect, which transmits as hostility, in Matt’s opinion.  Aaron is actually trying to protect Matt from danger.  As the plot unfolds the various dramas are revealed including a deadly sexual fetish.   Marshall Thornton has created an impressive thriller that I very much enjoyed.
