Strong willed, stand alone Special Agent Kate Weiss is having a hard time recovering from a kidnapping she can’t remember.  She finally gives into to a friend’s offer of working on something completely different for a while, and begins to enjoy spending her time with Jack on assignments.

Jack Tucker is a renowned morning radio host, who’s life moves at a fast pace    without attachments or regrets and that’s the way he likes it.  At first, he thinks Kate is trying to sabotage his budget by taking money away from it.   But he learns she’s good at her job of managing events to make more profits. After he starts to spend more time with Kate, Jack is learning that he wants more out of life than a one night fling.

Shockwave is a fast paced story and it never slows down throughout the book.  I am a little surprised at the attitudes and response of some of the characters to a couple of situations that unfolded.  They showed an extreme protectiveness that spoke of a closeness between co-workers and they didn’t disappoint me with their actions.

Jack’s character started out wanting the reader to believe he is a playboy, but then I saw a side of him that showed his true self.   He seemed like a person who had it all together, but failed in the support area when Kate really needed him the most.  Kate, on the other hand, knew what decisions she had to make in order to survive rejection.

Again, Ms. Romine fulfilled my expectations with her creative writing and kept me on edge, wondering what would happen next.   The detailed descriptive way she expressed Kate’s emotions and the secondary characters addition is a plus too.  Believe me; I can hardly wait for the next story because this one left me hanging with a load of questions.  Read and enjoy.
