Navy Lieutenants Therse Bodan and Genham Drisjic are the only two on the transport cruise ship heading for an uprising on a distant planet.  The trip would be ideal if not for the guilty secrets Therse is suppressing.  Near the end of their journey and with the help of Meitou, a member of the military's secretive elite branch, Therse and Genham are forced to face up to, as well as end, the four year emotional conflict between them.

Imposition is a friends to lovers story set in a futuristic world.  The interesting plot features a space ship with an artificial intelligence protesting its downgrade in naval status, a love-hate relationship and sensual intimate scenes.  The characters are creditable.  Therse is in-the-closet gay and exceptionally intelligent.  Therse’s dream has always been a position in Navy Command, yet the thought of never seeing Gen again is heartbreaking.  He did not want to be defined or hurt by his sexuality so by hiding it, Therse has created distance between himself and everyone else, particularly Gen, whose rejection would make Therse’s life unbearable.

Gen is a chronic under-achiever with charisma, self-assurance and stern conviction that would inspire men to follow him anywhere.  Gen employs pranks for the sole purpose of gaining Therse’s attention.  Not only does Gen admire Therse, he is secretly in love with him.  Juniper Gray has created a enjoyable saga although I was a little perplexed regarding the spaceship’s grievance, along with planned agenda.  The storyline seems to stop in a bittersweet limbo rather than end, leaving a opening for more episodes in the future.
