Victoria (Vicki) gets caught by a man that is trying to become a shifter.  She then gets bitten by the young man they have caged.  After they escape, Vicki ends up in Cold Creek trying to find the young man’s grandfather when she meets Calum and Alec.

Hour of the Lion was a little different from most shifter stories in the way the society functions in Cold Creek.  Vicki’s life was so shrouded in secrecy that she had a very difficult time getting in touch with her emotions and trusting anyone. Vicki had been a Marine and was working for the CIA when she ended up being bitten and “gifted” by the young man.  I think anyone thrown into a society that was so different and one that was not studied would confuse anyone.

Vicki’s, Alec’s and Calum’s chemistry scorch the pages and, though everyone mistrusted the other, they get very involved emotionally.  The author had some wonderful secondary characters that brought a lot of life to the story.  The suspenseful story line almost had me wondering if, and how, the author was going to resolve it.  This story does keep you very interested and I will be reading it again.

One word of warning:  I have a Sony reader and the font kept changing as I read the story even within the same paragraph.  This did not happen when I checked it on my computer.
