Strapped to the bed in a mental institution, Aiden just wants to go home, but his sister Polly checked him in to the hospital after one of his emotional outbursts. Aiden is bi-polar author and writing is his lifeline to reality, until he meets Pierce, an orderly at the hospital. The immediate attraction between Aiden and Pierce has a calming effect on Aiden, allowing him to relax enough to be released from the hospital.

Chrysalis 1: Cocooning is an intuitive story dealing with a complex subject. Because of his compulsion to write, Aiden forgets to take his meds, bringing on outbursts triggered by Polly, who clearly does not understand Aiden. Polly could benefit from a few visits with Dr. Phil. Pierce, who is normally sensitive to patients, realizes he has a wish to nurture Aiden in whatever way he can and the fact that Aiden craves sexual nurturing is very agreeable to Pierce also. Mike Shade has illustrated a superb story of love and integrity. I enjoyed this first installment immensely.
