Kit & Chance go way back. They had gotten very well acquainted in the past but when a man is lucky enough to find his calling, he’s got no choice but to follow it. Chance needs to roam and luckily for him, he can get good money for it, snapping pictures all over the world. Unfortunately for Chance, Kit just doesn’t share that need. Not that Kit would deny Chance his opportunity in life, far from it, and Chance has always known Kit only wants what’s best for him. It just seems as though their lives are headed in different directions.
No matter where Chance’s work takes him though, he always takes the time to write an old friend and to think about the way things used to be. The years might be slowly rolling by but the postcards they swap show that they are still cared for, still in each other’s thoughts. Sometimes though, the need to be with the one you love outweighs all other needs and when Kit decides enough is enough, Chance is thanking his lucky stars. He’s also trying very hard to ignore the question that won’t go away. How could he possibly consider leaving all this behind again?
Worth the Work portrays the difficulties encountered in trying to make a relationship work and is a reminder that anything worthwhile isn’t easy. At times the fragility of their relationship made me question whether they had the strength needed to keep things going. However, as Kit and Chance move through different stages in their lives and careers, one thing remains; their need for each other and the steps they are willing to take to make this work.
