In the world of sports, football is built on the premise that it’s for manly men! While quarterbacks Cache Garnett and Eric Patton are both manly, they love each other and have had a secret relationship for almost a decade. Winning the biggest game of his life, and then suffering a potentially career-ending injury at the same time is a hard pill for Cache to swallow. Now, someone has revealed the truth behind their relationship and Cache will have to make some tough decisions.
Pepper Espinoza pulls in sports fans with Quarterback Sneak. Cache has known his true feeling for Eric for years. He also knows that he may need Eric far more than Eric needs him. While Eric has no trouble showing how he feels, it doesn’t come as naturally to Cache. Eric wants to be able to love Cache without restrictions. He respects his lover enough to not just admit to what is going on, but I believe it hurts more that Cache can’t admit to him that their future is better together than apart. I was a bit nervous that they would never get it right, and that Cache would make it impossible to move forward. However, Ms. Espinoza never disappoints a reader with a not so happily-ever-after ending, and I’m happy she didn’t start with Quarterback Sneak. If you’re gearing up for the bowl games, then this is a wonderful way to start.
