Lilah is first turned into a vampire and then attacked by werewolves, ending up with a dual nature. Adrian protects her and helps her learn about her vampire side, but doesn’t seem to like her wolf too much.
Lilah has always had a crush on Roarke, the alpha werewolf she knew while growing up. Roarke shows up to claim her and finds her with Adrian. After several attempts on her life, Roarke and Adrian come up with a way to keep Lilah safe. Neither is happy with the fact that she is attracted to them both, but Lilah convinces them that she needs both of them to keep both her vampire and wolf happy.
There is a lot of political maneuvering within the vampire and werewolf communities, which include some rogue elements coming into play. Both Adrian and Roarke are hard pressed to keep Lilah alive and with them.
I was intrigued by Ms. Winter’s concept of a woman being both a vampire and werewolf in Her Hungers. I was disappointed that references about Lilah’s attack and turning seemed to be peripheral. The book started with a sex scene with Adrian and most of the book was about the sex and sexual relationship between the three of them, with the storyline showing up once in a while.
