Rescuing Megan from an attempted abduction is only the start of the developing relationship between this fiery pair. While they seek Sandro’s brother, their mutual passion and desire flares hot. He wants Megan body and soul but, due to his own secret, can’t promise her the forever she wants and needs.
Red Alert is the first release in the new Storm (The Society of Talented Officers Resisting Mistreatment) series by multi-published author Lynne Connolly. Let me say upfront that I really enjoyed this intriguing and well-written book and bringing the ‘talents’ out into the public spotlight was a great plotline progression for the shifter races that readers have became acquainted with in previous series.
The characters of Megan and Sandro are sexy, independent and likable and the dual kidnapping plotline that propels the story forward, well thought out, plausible and nicely executed. The inclusion of the rabid anti-talent group, the IRDC (The International Research and Development Clinic) from the previous releases is the perfect continuing villainous group. The manner in which this group of people infiltrate society using science as a cover, while in fact propagating hate, fear and distrust of people who they don’t consider normal…human. And I have to admit that this group reminds me of the hate and torture experienced by millions during WWII. The IRDC might operate in the background most of the time, but their presence in the story is what Sandro and the other operatives from STORM fight against each and every day.
The secondary characters fill out the story nicely, and this is particularly true of the telepathic aspect of Megan and Ricardo’s connection, fellow agent Chase, and the interaction with the head of the agency, Ann. The plot is action-packed, racing from beginning to end, while Megan and Sandro attempt to sort out their swirling passion and emotion. There is really too much going on in this story to list it all, but suffice it to say there’s more than enough passion, desire, hate, betrayal, fear and pain to satisfy any reader. I look forward to seeing where this series goes with the next release, Red Heat.
