Screenwriter Calvin Trison is excited about his move from Iowa. He has a new job, and hopefully the opportunity to find love in San Diego. The move was just the boost Calvin’s life needed. Thanks to a burglar, Calvin gets a jumpstart on his search for Mr. Right.
Officer Larson Jenkins responds to the nine-one-one call and rescues Calvin. Injured and scared, Calvin tugs at Larson’s heartstrings and awakens a need for love and companionship he didn’t have time to focus on, but refused to turn his back on. Larson refuses to rush Calvin into a relationship, knowing that the anxiety and stress from his encounter could be what is drawing Calvin to him. He refuses to confuse love with Calvin just Feeling Safe in his arms.
Sonja Spenser’s Feeling Safe starts with a heart throbbing encounter with a burglar, and ends with two men finding the love they both deserve. Calvin is quiet, handsome, and kind. Larson is as honorable as any man who carries a badge and a gun should be. What a perfect setting for these two men to meet. Even with the protection of his gun, Larson seems a bit venerable when he sees the distress on Calvin’s face. The characters blend perfectly, in and out of the bedroom. Ms. Spenser adds just enough conflict to make the story interesting without it seeming as if they just fight love for the sake of fighting it. I also enjoyed the fact that she added a bit of police jargon to make the story have a real feel without making it so complicated that we need a police manual to get through the book. Feeling Safe is definitely a story I plan to read again in the near future.
