Roan and Sebastian have been together for a year now. They love each other dearly but are afraid to come out to their families. When they return home for Christmas, Roan finds out the truth about his life, which leads to heartache. But Sebastian stands by his side, knowing there’s nowhere else he rather be but in the arms of his lover.

A Family Secret has a feel of an old English monarchy. The characters, for some reason, felt like they walked out a production of a classic novel by the BBC. Cassidy Ryan’s language is very smooth and sexy. The characters of Roan and Sebastian were lovely, their escapades were very daring - but the actual sex left a more of an anti-climatic feeling. The anxious feeling of them finding a moment’s peace during Christmas was much hotter than when they actually came together and I think that’s what left me a little empty at times; their lovemaking didn’t make me feel anything. If anything, the sex was a little bland. However, the angst and the heartache were developed well in the story. The author did a good job, and I enjoyed this new twist of a plot very much.
