Playing For Keeps is two stories about Greek Gods in modern times. The gods have integrated themselves into society. The prologue piqued my interest, which few books have before.

Worshiped (4 Nymphs) is about Alicia, who is a former battered wife that ended up in Athena’s shelter for abused women. Athena has her invited to Aphrodite’s annual weekend party. The gods, Pathos and Himeros, offer to take her on a journey through the maze and end up seducing her. Alicia thinks that this is only for the weekend, but both gods let her know it does not have to end if she doesn’t want it to.

I really liked this story because it flowed very smoothly and you could feel Alicia’s self-confidence growing.

A Wish and a Threesome (2 Nymphs) is about the goddesses Athena and Nike. They have been lovers for hundreds of years. Nike has always wanted Athena to join her when she decides she wants a male lover, but Athena has always resisted. Alicia’s friend Chris is the young man who brought her to the shelter. This piqued Athena’s interest and she set up a scene with Nike, Chris and herself. Afterwards, she offers Chris the chance to stay.

The story line itself is good. However, it was spoiled by typos as well as words which tended to jar the story.

Both stories bring all the parties together for long-term relationships. Those that like ménage will probably enjoy Playing For Keeps.
