Adrian had been orphaned at age eight and Ezra Drake had taken her in. He was truly a father to her -- actually more like The Godfather. Mob ruler Ezra raised Adrian to be his top assassin. She’s now 29 and very good at her job. Sometimes she wonders what it would be like to be one of the “suits,” living a “normal” life.

Tony Litton is Adrian’s friend and lover. He runs the Miami operations, but someone is informing to the police. Ezra orders Adrian to keep Tony from testifying -- with a bullet.

Adrian is conflicted, but loyal to Ezra. Terrifying dreams interrupt her nights, vaguely familiar and teasing her early memories. She has no real recollections before Ezra, but now she has more and more questions.

Adrian is not your typical heroine. There’s a lot of blood here, as she unravels the lies she’s been told and reaches a solution to her problems. Damon Wyatt is the Atlanta Detective who at first thinks she’s a mob victim. Tony’s little boy is facing the same life Adrian’s been living, and she promised her dying friend she’d save him.

It was a bit difficult to relate to the violence and gore early in the story. The hit man perspective was totally unfamiliar. But I found it worthwhile to persevere. Author Shin’s tale is highly creative and thought provoking. I give her high marks for creativity.
